Nun gets money back, thanks to Naia interns

A Benedectine nun recovered on Tuesday a wallet containing P39,000 that she lost at Ninoy Aquino International Airport nearly a year ago, thanks to Naia interns who traced her address to Vigan City, Ilocos Sur province. Sister Mary Emilia Lamunda of the Benedictine Nuns of the Eucharistic King thanked Ninotchka Janine Pascua and Kathlene Joy Bacud, on-the-job trainees at the airport’s lost and found section, upon getting back the wallet and cash. “God is really good. Miracles do happen.  I never expected to recover the money, but through the help of these students, it was returned to me,” she said. Cpl. Reynon Flores of the Naia lost and found section said he asked Pascua and Bacud, both tourism students from Northwestern University in Laoag City, to find the owner of the wallet, which was found by a janitress, Linda Villablanca, on April 3 last year. Flores said it contained a receipt of a travel agency based in Vigan, which had Lamunda’s name. Once in Vigan, the students contacted the agency and were able to locate Lamunda at the Heart of Mary Abbey. The money actually did not belong to Lamunda but to her sibling whom she fetched at the airport, she said. Jerome Aning
