MANILA, Philippines—Security measures are now in place for the first travel outside jail of detained real-estate magnate Delfin Lee, police official said Tuesday.

Chief Superintendent Reuben Theodore Sindac, Philippine National Police Public Information Office chief, said security operations have been prepared for Lee’s appearance before the Court of Appeals on Wednesday at 10 a.m.

“Security operations are now laid out and prepared but this would be in a more reasonable scale as we will be accompanied and augmented by other government and law enforcement agencies,” Sindac said.

Earlier Tuesday, the CA granted the writ of habeas corpus filed by Lee ordering the National Bureau of Investigation and PNP to bring the businessman to the appeals court to hear his plea.

Sindac told reporters that the transportation of Lee would not be as costly for the PNP compared to that of pork barrel scam alleged mastermind Janet Lim-Napoles.

Critics slammed the government for spending “too much” for Napoles whenever she goes out of her detention cell at Fort Sto. Domingo in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.
