Below are the top 10 government agencies with the most number of complaints filed against its officials and members in 2013.
MANILA, Philippines – Local government units topped the list of government agencies with the most number of complaints filed with the Office of the Ombudsman, according to a report.
In 2013, 2,014 cases were filed against local government officials, said the Ombudsman’s Finance and Management Information Office (FMIO).
While LGUs consistently stayed on top for three straight years, the FMIO said there has been a considerable drop in the number of cases filed against them beginning 2011. A total of 3,852 cases were filed against LGU officials, which dropped further in 2012 with a total of 2,669 cases.
Uniformed personnel in two government organizations – the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) – placed second and third, respectively, on the list.
For 2013, the office received a total of 1,312 cases filed against members of the PNP while 246 cases against members of the AFP.
The Ombudsman also noted the drop in the number of cases filed against PNP and AFP personnel from 2012 figures showing 1415 and 332 cases, respectively.
