MANILA, Philippines – Controversial businesswoman Janet Lim-Napoles who allegedly led the pork barrel scam asked a Makati court to allow her to undergo surgery and confinement in St. Luke’s Medical Center-Taguig.
In an 11-page motion filed before the Makati Regional Trial Court Branch 150 last Monday, Napoles filed a motion “to undergo medical surgery and hospital confinement,” clerk of court Atty. Diosfa Valencia told INQUIRER.net by phone on Tuesday.
Valencia said the motion was filed citing the medical results of the Philippine National Police General Hospital, which found a mass inside her uterus.
The Makati court had allowed Napoles to have her check-up in Camp Crame although it junked her request to have it done in St. Luke’s Medical Center.
Napoles has asked the court to place her under hospital arrest after claiming to have ovarian cancer. But the PNP hospital diagnosed her to have a non-life threatening mass in the uterus.
Napoles is detained at Fort Sto. Domingo in Laguna over charges of illegal detention of pork scam whistleblower Benhur Luy.
The court will conduct a hearing on Napoles’ motion on March 6, Thursday, Valencia said.
Napoles has been tagged as the alleged brains behind the racket of converting lawmakers’ discretionary funds into kickbacks through Napoles’ bogus non-government organizations.
