MANILA, Philippines—At least four armed men attempted Tuesday morning to rob a jewelry store inside a mall in Cubao, Quezon City.
Radio reports said the robbers allegedly attacked First Allied Emporium Incorporated, a jewelry shop in the ground floor of Farmers Plaza, around 9:40 a.m., shortly after it opened.
Quoting the mall security guards who witnessed the attempted heist, reports said two of the suspects broke into the shop while their other cohorts waited outside.
Boarding motorcycles without helmets, the assailants then fled and fired shots along Edsa, threatening motorists to give way as they fled.
No one was hurt in the brazen daylight robbery.
The security guards said the motorcycles used by the suspects, who wore caps instead of helmets, had no plate numbers.
They also said the age of the suspects ranged from 25 to 30 years old.
The robbers made off with undetermined amount of jewelry, one security guard added.
Farmers Plaza later went back to normal operation except for the jewelry store and its nearby establishments.
The Quezon City Police District was investigating the incident.
