MANILA, Philippines – The Commission on Appointments on Wednesday confirmed the promotion of 18 military officials, including that of the chief of Intelligence Service of the Armed of the Philippines (ISAFP), who has been linked to the disappearance of activist journalist Jonas Burgos.
The promotion of ISAFP chief Brigadier General Eduardo Año to the grade of Major General came just four months after his confirmation by the CA to the rank of Brigadier General.
The 17 others recommended for confirmation in the plenary were the following:
1. Bayani R. Gaerlan to the grade of Commodore
2. Edmundo R. Pangilinan to the grade of Brigadier General
3. Roger D. Salvador to the grade of Brigadier General
4. Gregorio Pio Catapang Jr. to the grade of Lieutenant General
5. Jose Renan Suarez to the grade of Rear Admiral
6. Jet Velarmino to the grade of Major General
7. Virgilo Hernandez to the grade of Major General
8. Gerardo Barrientos Jr. to the grade of Brigadier General
9. Vic Castro to the grade of Brigadier General
10. Raul Ubando to the grade of Commodore
11. Manuel Gonzales to the grade of Brigadier General
12. Alex Capina to the grade of Brigadier General
13. Hilario Frigillana to the grade of Colonel
14. Patrick De Leon to the grade of Colonel
15. Aurelio Baladad to the grade of Major General
16. Caesar Taccad to the grade of Rear Admiral
17. Ricardo Jalad to the grade of Brigadier General
