MANILA, Philippines – A 5.3-magnitude earthquake jolted Ilocos Norte on Monday afternoon, the Philippine Institute for Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
Phivolcs said the quake, with a depth of 29 kilometers, struck 29 kilometers south west of Burgos, Ilocos Norte at 1:56 p.m. on Monday.
The earthquake was felt in Ilocos region with Intensity V recorded in Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte; Intensity IV in Sarrat, Laoag and Paoay, Ilocos Norte; Intensity III in Sinait, Ilocos Sur; and Intensity II in Santa, Ilocos Sur.
Another earthquake was reported by Phivolcs on Sunday afternoon 28 kilometers northeast of Laoag City. The 3.0-magnitude quake struck at 3:51 p.m. and was felt at Intensity III in Laoag City; Batac, Sarrat, Pasuguin and Paoay, Ilocos Norte.
