MANILA, Philippines–The alleged leader of a notorious armed robbery group targeting students in Manila’s University Belt has been arrested by police.
Apang Laquidanum, the alleged leader of “Apang” group and a resident of Balut, Tondo, was apprehended Monday by operatives of Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group along with local Manila police.
Chief Superintendent Benjamin Magalong, CIDG director, said Tuesday that the student victims themselves identified Laquidanum through the police rogue gallery.
Police said Laquidanum would be slapped with robbery with violence charges..
Laquidanum’s accomplices identified as Diego Valencia and Jose Postrano will also be charged, police added. The duo, however, are still at large.
Laquidanum was transferred to the custody of the National Capital Region unit of CIDG for booking and documentation.
