Northeast monsoon cools Northern Luzon

MANILA, Philippines—Northern Luzon continues to enjoy cool weather due to the northeast monsoon, or hanging amihan, the state weather bureau said Tuesday.

Consequently, the northern seaboard of Luzon will experience strong to gale-force winds associated with the northeast monsoon, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) added.

Fishing boats and other small seacraft were advised not to venture out into the sea while larger vessels were alerted against big waves.

The Ilocos regions, Cordillera, Cagayan Valley and Central Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains, Pagasa said.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms, Pagasa added.

The province of Surigao will be cloudy with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the east to northeast with slight to moderate seas.
