MANILA, Philippines – The Catholic Church is firm in its campaign against the reproductive health (RH) bill and is urging the public to wear red to show its support, a Radyo Inquirer report said Thursday, quoting an official of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP).
Monsignor Juanito Figura, CBCP secretary general, was quoted as saying that there was no point in discussing the bill with President Benigno Aquino III since he had made his position clear on the matter.
Quoting Cotabato Auxiliary Bishop Jose Colin Bagaforo, the report said the CBCP’s “red ribbon” campaign was one way of raising public awareness on the family planning bill.
Quoting Butuan Bishop Juan de Dios Pueblos, the report said people were also encouraged to wear blue or white shirts in protest against the RH bill.
