Palace welcomes return to PH of ‘pork’ co-accused Ruby Tuason
MANILA, Philippines — Malacanang on Tuesday welcomed news that Ruby Tuason, among those allegedly involved in the pork barrel scam, had arrived in the country to testify against the perpetrators.
“Bawat paglalahad ng impormasyon na may kinalalaman sa pagpapatunay sa umano’y maling paggamit ng pondo ng bayan ay inaasahang makatulong sa paghahanap sa katotohanan at pagkamit ng katarungan,” Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma said in a text message to media.
Coloma did not respond when asked if the government would grant Tuazon protection. But Tuazon’s lawyer said that she applied to and was admitted to the Witness Protection Program of the Department of Justice.
Tuazon was among those charged with plunder for the misuse of the Priority Development Assistance Fund. She was named as a conduit for Senators Juan Ponce Enrile and Jose “Jinggoy” Estrada.
Like several others who were accused, Tuazon left the country in Aug. 26, 2013 before the cases were filed.
