City Hall brings frontline services to barangays

CEBU City Mayor Michael Rama directed the frontline cluster to conduct a monthly community outreach in the city’s barangays twice every month.

During their first outing in barangay Tisa, Mayor Rama expressed elation over the turnout of participants.

The team had already visited 16 barangays. Around 500 residents per barangay availed of the services conducted every other Friday of the month. This month, the team will visit Bo. Luz on Sept. 16 and San Nicolas Proper on Sept. 30.

City Engineer Kenneth Enriquez, chairperson of the frontline cluster group, thanked barangay officials for their support. She said the program  created an impact to the community through the free services.

“People will no longer endure the processing of documents in city hall and even their request for road or drainage maintenance and other services were acted by our personnel,” she said.

Among the services were medical and dental check-up with free medicines, random blood sugar and blood typing, seedling distribution, anti-rabies vaccination and feeding of children.

Other services were free late registration of birth, marriage and death; water sources sampling; mapping of street vendors; street lighting, cleaning of garbage and canal de-clogging; seminar on traffic rules for habal-habal and trisikad drivers; seminar on drugs and rehabilitation; demolition of illegal structure and pre-registration and pre-screening for job fair employment referrals.

The frontline services were offered by the civil registrar, city agriculture, city assessor, city treasurer, city legal, City Health department, Department of Veterinary Medicine and Fisheries, Cebu City Medical Center, Department of Social Welfare and Services, Department of Public Services, Cebu City Traffic Operations Management, City Office for Substance Abuse Prevention, Division for the Welfare of the Urban Poor, Department of Engineering and Public Works and Department of Manpower Development and Placement.
