Did you know: PH’s first labor organization

On Feb. 2, 1902, Isabelo de los Reyes established the Union Obrero Democratica Filipina in Sampaloc, Manila. Recognized as the first labor organization in the Philippines, it celebrated the first Labor Day in the country on May 1, 1903, by organizing over 100,000 workers who marched to Malacañang to demand better working conditions.—Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
