The NFA said in a statement that it has augmented its volume allocation for “hotspot areas” in Manila, San Juan and Quezon City “to boost the presence of the affordable government rice particularly in Kamuning, Frisco and Muñoz markets.”

It will now double the allocation, from 25 bags to 50 bags, for NFA-accredited outlets inside markets while outlets outside public markets will receive 20 bags instead of 10.

While reports said the price of commercial rice has gone up, the NFA said they currently have 7.5 million bags of rice, enough to ensure that there is affordable rice in the market.
