MANILA, Philippines — Back-to-back earthquakes hit Cagwait, Surigao del Sur on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.
In its earthquake bulletin, Phivolcs said that a magnitude 5.0 earthquake struck east of Cagwait at 4:59 p.m.
It was tectonic in origin and had a depth of focus of 10 kilometers (kms).
Phivolcs also said that aftershocks are expected.
The agency also reported that the earthquake was felt / recorded at Instrumental Intensity III in Tandag City, Surigao del Sur and Instrumental Intensity I in Bislig City, Surigao del Sur
Meanwhile, the second earthquake likewise struck east of Cagwait at 5:13 p.m.
It was also tectonic in origin and had a depth of 10 kms.
No data on reported intensities have been made available as of posting time.
Phivolcs noted that no damage and aftershocks are expected.
