Fake ‘Excellent’ noodles bound for US seized
Agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) recently raided the office and warehouse of FCG Trading Philippines Inc. at 158 Wayan Street, Barangay Masambong, Quezon City for allegedly manufacturing and distributing counterfeit food products.
The Jan. 10 raid was conducted based on the complaint filed by Jeverps Manufacturing Corp., the real manufacturer of “Excellent” oriental noodles.
Jeverps claimed that FCG was producing and marketing fake products to FCG’s buyers in the United States, particularly in New Jersey and California.
Armed with a search warrant issued by Judge Lyliha Abella-Aquino of Manila Regional Trial Court-Branch 24, NBI agents raided the FCG warehouse and seized 191 boxes of the bihon products and thousands of unused fake paper labels and packaging materials bearing the Excellent trademark.
The seized products were supposed to be delivered to a certain Mike Lee in New Jersey.
Jeverps lawyers Jojo Taloma and Allan Busmente said they would file a criminal complaint for violation of Republic Act No. 8293 or the Intellectual Property Code against the directors and officials of FCG.
