MANILA, Philippines–Two civic organizations donated wheelchairs and medical equipment to Manila in a bid to help out impoverished residents who are mobility-impaired  and those who cannot afford medical attention.

Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim personally received on Friday 35 new wheelchairs from the Manila Friendship Lions Club (MFLC), which he revealed has already donated 1,400 units in the past years, as well as a respiratory ventilator from the Jaycees Philippines Inc.

Lim expressed gratitude to MFLC president Kim Tong Willy Chua and his organization which he said has been helping him with his wheelchair donations since 2007.  Apart from donating wheelchairs, the group has also given hand-held radios to the city for the use of the city hall-based security force.
