MANILA, Philippines – Malacañang on Monday said the government is still studying ways to ease the long lines at the Metro Rail Transit stations amid a spike in complaints from passengers.
“Naghahanap sila ng paraan (to accommodate more passengers). Isa dito yung pagdagdag ng coaches pero it will take some time (before this is set-up),” presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda told media.
(They are looking for ways to accommodate more passengers. One of these is having additional train coaches but it will take some time before this is set-up.)
The spokesperson assured the public that they are looking for ways to alleviate the long lines, some of which have reached several blocks during rush hour.
Lacierda said he understands the situation and that Transportation Secretary Joseph Emilio Abaya was aware of such concerns.
“I can tell you pinag-aaralan nila yan (it is being studied),” he reiterated.
