MANILA, Philippines — Storm Signal No. 1 has been raised in seven provinces in Mindanao after a low pressure area in the area developed into a tropical depression now named “Agaton”, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical And Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

Affected are Surigao del Norte including Siargao Island, Surigao del Sur, Dinagat Province, Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Davao Oriental and Compostella Valley, Pagasa said.

The weather bureau said the center of the tropical depression was located 260 kilometers southeast of Guiuan, Eastern Samar or 130 km Northeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.

Pagasa added it was moving southwest at a speed of five kilometers per hour.
