A 28-year-old man was shot dead by his neighbor in barangay Biasong, Talisay City, southern Cebu, last Thursday night.
Mark Anthony Alvarez came from a drinking session and walked home with friends when he was attacked.
Police said personal grudge was the motive in the killing.
Alvarez and the alleged suspect, Alexander Abendan, 26, figured in a fistfight a few days ago.
According to the police investigation, a drunk Alvarez, who was armed with a knife, looked for Abendan around 7 p.m. last Thursday.
Police said Alvarez was restrained by neighbors.
The man was brought by his four friends in a store where they had a drinking session.
Police said when Abendan learned that Alvarez was looking for him awhile ago, he took a gun in his house and hunted Alvarez.
Alvarez was advised by neighbors to go home as an armed Abendan was looking for him.
Alvarez and his friends decided to go home.
Alvarez’s group was walking along a road when Abendan appeared and shot the victim in the abdomen, said SPO4 Daniel Tarucan, investigator of Talisay City police .
Abendan fled after the attack.
Alvarez was rushed by his friends to the Talisay City District Hospital but attending physicians declared him dead.
