Fire destroys section of Cebu’s Carbon Market
CEBU CITY, Philippines—A fire of still undetermined origin raged for almost two hours at this city’s premier public market, razing to the ground a whole block in Unit 1 of the Carbon Market in Sitio Warwick Barracks, Barangay Ermita.
More than 100 stalls and residences of mostly Filipino-Chinese traders were affected by the fire, with five persons reported injured, according to firefighters at the scene.
Fire department officials said the fire broke out at 10:38 a.m.
The place is located just across the street from the Carbon police station and at the back of the Freedom Park.
