A MAN jumped from the Marcelo Fernan Bridge while another one tried to hang himself in two separate suicide attempts in Lapu-Lapu City on Wednesday.
A 37-year-old man was rescued by personnel of the PNP Maritime Group in Central Visayas after he jumped from the bridge at 10:56 a.m.
Police rushed to the bridge after the man was seen through the security camera’s footage plunging into the waters.
The man later swam to the shore where he was met by police. Paramedics from the Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation (Eruf) took the man to the hospital where he was identified by his relatives.
Further investigation will be made to determine if the incident was really a suicide attempt.
About two hours later, a man was rescued by his relatives after he was seen suspended from the ceiling of his room with a nylon rope tied around his neck.
The man acted violently when he was untied. Eruf personnel arrived and took the man to the hospital.
PO2 John Carlo Jocutan said that prior to the incident, the man asked money from her mother who turned him down./CORRESPONDENT NORMAN V. MENDOZA
