QCPD chief vows to have cop who shot bystander axed
MANILA, Philippines — A top official of the Quezon City Police District on Monday promised to pursue charges against a policeman who accidentally shot and injured a bystander on New Year’s Day and ensure his dismissal from the service
Chief Supt. Richard Albano, the QCPD director, learned that Police Officer 3 Arnold
Sagun has managed to remain in service despite an earlier case in 2011.
Speaking after the unsealing of policemen’s guns after the New Year, the official said Sagun would be dealt with the “full force of disciplinary action” since he committed a serious offense.
“I believe he was given a punishment for the earlier offense but with this new offense, we will monitor his case so he could be removed from the service the soonest possible time,” Albano said.
Albano on Monday led the removal of the tape on policemen’s guns and the destruction of P60,000 worth of seized illegal firecrackers.
