MANILA, Philippines— A two-year-old boy from Ilocos Norte became the second fatality of stray bullet during the New Year revelry.
The victim was identified as Rhanz Angelo Corpuz who was hit by a wayward slug in left temple while sleeping in their living room in Barangay (village) 3, San Nicolas town at the height of Wednesday’s merriment.
The first stray bullet casualty was three-month-old Von Alexander Llagas of Caoayan town in Ilocos Sur. He died last Wednesday.
Police Officer 2 Den Rosqueta of the San Nicolas Police Station told INQUIRER.net in a phone interview that Corpuz died from gunshot wound at 2:40 p.m. on Thursday at the Laoag General Hospital.
Rosqueta said doctors at the hospital have already turned over the slug to the police for further investigation.
He added that the regional Scene of the Crime Operations went to the residence of Corpuz Friday morning to determine the bullet’s trajectory.
Ilocos Norte police said investigation is still ongoing.
Meanwhile, the PNP regional officers in Ilocos Sur formed a task force to track down the gunman responsible for Llagas’ death.
Ilocos Sur Governor Ryan Luis Singson on Wednesday offered a P250,000 reward for people who could offer information that would help solve the case of the three-month old baby.
