2 nabbed, P1.6M in ‘shabu’ seized

Two men suspected by police of being drug pushers greeted the New Year in jail after they were arrested in separate buy-bust operations in Cebu City.

Trisikad driver Dexter Caballero was arrested in barangay Hipodromo last Tuesday afternoon.

The arrest was made by operatives of the Regional Special Operation Group (RSOG) of the Regional Intelligence Division (RID).

Caballero said he was just asked by someone to deliver shabu to the buyer, who turned out to be an ROSG posing as a customer.

Several packs of suspected shabu worth P1.6 million were seized from the man’s possession, said RID deputy chief Rex Derilo.

Derilo said that based on the reports they received, the seized illegal drugs came from Ormoc City in Leyte.

Supt. Paul Labra II, chief of RID, said the drugs were supposed to be disposed in Cebu City during the Sinulog celebration.

Labra said a follow-up investigation will be made to identity the suspect’s financiers.

In barangay Luz, Alfredo Gegrimosa Jr., 32, was arrested by operatives of City Intelligence Branch (CIB) past midnight of Dec. 31.

Police said Gegrimosa’s brother Obet was previously arrested for the same offense.

Police said 49 sachets and four big packs of suspected shabu were recovered from the man’s possession.

During the arrest, police also caught Lito Ventura, 36; Victory Paul Sanchez, 24; Alberto Villaflores, 42; and Edison Pamati-an, 40, allegedly having a pot session.
