Man nabbed for fake bills

A man was arrested after fake money bills were found in his house in barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City, on Wednesday afternoon.

Police said fake P500 bills amounting to P8,000 were seized from the house of Roberto Cañada, 51.

Earlier, store owner Imelda Montayre went to the Subangdaku police precinct to complain that Cañada gave her a fake P200 bill as payment for the cigarette that he bought.

Acting on the complaint, police went to the man’s house and seized more fake bills.

Police said Cañada refused to divulge where he got the fake money bills.

Charges for illegal possession and use of false treasury and banknotes will be filed against Cañada, said police.
