AN American national was shot and wounded by a government employee in barangay Punta, Princesa, Cebu City, last Sunday night.

Cuahutemoc Simpson, 35, sustained a gunshot wound in the shoulder.

It was only yesterday that Simpson’s girlfriend, Aireen Jamillah Roma, 30, reported the incident to the police.

The suspect, Andres Ruiz, 31, an employee of the Bureau of Internal Revenue, remains at large, said police.

Roma told police that she, Simpson and Ruiz were together in a disco bar in barangay Lahug last Saturday night.

At the bar, Roma said Ruiz sexually harassed her by touching her private parts and kissing her.

Simpson confronted Ruiz. This led to a heated argument.

The three were supposed to meet in a fast-food chain in Punta Princesa last Sunday night to settle the issue.

But instead of settling their differences, Simpson and Roma came to blows.

During the scuffle, Ruiz took a gun and shot Simpson, said police.

Ruiz fled after the shooting, said police. CORRESPONDENT RHEA V. ROSEL
