MANILA, Philippines—A woman was gunned down while she was driving a motorcycle with a young boy around her neighborhood in Quezon City Monday night.
Police said the lone assailant was also on a motorcycle of the same make when he killed Caroline Gnilo, 29, of San Francisco del Monte.
Case investigator Police Officer 2 Louie Serbito said the woman’s 15-year-old companion was not hurt in the shooting, which occurred on Roosevelt Avenue in Barangay (village) Paraiso around 11:45 p.m.
Serbito said the police was investigating allegations the woman was involved in illegal drugs.
A witness saw Gnilo and the boy riding a black and gray Suzuki Raider in the area with a man aboard a similar motorcycle behind them. The assailant sped up and as he overtook the victims’ motorcycle he fired several shots at the woman, who fell to the ground.
Following the shooting, the man was seen speeding off toward Quezon Avenue while a relative rushed Gnilo to the Quezon City General Hospital where she died.
Serbito said the woman suffered two gunshot wounds in the head and two in the body from a caliber .40 pistol.
