COTABATO CITY  – Village officials have arrested two men believed to be engaged in illegal drug trade in Carmen town in North Cotabato, police said Tuesday.

Senior Supt. Danilo Peralta, North Cotabato police director, identified the suspects as Akmad Simpal alias Madz and Berning Tayag, both residents of Barangay Langogan, Carmen.

Quoting a report from Carmen PNP, Peralta said four village chairmen, identified as Roger Alimanan, Usop Camansa, Igko Dalid and Omar Manampan, had just ended a meeting when they noticed Simpal and Tayag on board a motorbike acting suspiciously.

This prompted one of the village officials to check why Simpal was armed and acting suspiciously. Simpal failed to show documents for carrying his cal. 45 pistol.
