MANILA, Philippines—A 4.5 magnitude earthquake off Davao Occidental at 5:33 p.m. Monday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injury from the quake that centered about 34 kilometers southeast of Sarangani at a depth of 117 kilometers.
The Philippines sits on the Pacific “Ring of Fire” where continental plates collide causing frequent seismic and volcanic activity.
