American found dead

MANILA, Philippines – A 50-year-old American was found dead in his hotel room in Quezon City before dawn Friday. Dominic Joseph Salfi was lying face down on his bed when discovered by employees of the hotel, a day after he checked into the establishment.  Case investigator Police Officer 2 Alvin Quisumbing said a three-page handwritten will was also recovered inside the victim’s room at Tune Hotel on Timog Avenue, Quezon City. Salfi was found at 12:50 a.m. Friday after hotel employees opened the door to his room at the insistence of his girlfriend when he failed to answer her phone calls. Quisumbing said there were no signs of external injuries on the victim’s body. Julie M. Aurelio

‘Floater’ found in river

The decomposing body of a man was recovered from the San Juan River on Thursday night in Quezon City. The still unidentified victim was found at 11:30 p.m. off Barangay Tatalon. Case investigator Senior Police Officer1 Eric Lazo described the victim as 5’1” tall and clad in a shirt with the markings “Stripper 05 Denim for the Future.” His body bore no signs of external injuries. A witness who was out drinking with friends outdoors noticed the body as it was floating in the river. He and the others immediately called the attention of barangay officials. Julie M. Aurelio
