MANILA, Philippines—A 4.3 magnitude earthquake shook Antique Friday afternoon, state volcanologists said.
The quake occurred at 12:48 p.m., 34 kilometers northeast of San Jose de Buenavista, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injury.
The tectonic quake had a depth of one kilometers.
It was felt in the following areas:
- Intensity III – Tibiao; Culasi; San Jose, Antique; Caticlan;
- Intensity II – Boracay Island
No aftershocks were expected.
The Philippines sits on the Pacific “Ring of Fire” where continental plates collide causing frequent seismic and volcanic activity.
