THE Bradford United Church of Christ Incorporated (BUCCI) will hold a series of benefit concerts in three different venues in Cebu City and Mandaue City this week.
The Christmas offering, titled “The Name… Jesus,” is an hour-long choral telling the birth of the Savior, Jesus Christ, said BUCCI senior pastor Fraxedes Sabayle.
The concerts will be shown on Dec. 18, 20 and 22 at 6 p.m. at the J Centre Mall in Mandaue City, SM City Cebu Northwing and the Terraces in Ayala Center Cebu.
“The shows are for a cause, but definitely for free. Anyone may come and watch,” Sabayle said.
Sabayle said the proceeds from the concert will be donated to the survivors of supertyphoon Yolanda.
He said partner companies have pledged cash and in-kind donations.
The BUCCI also initiated relief operations for the survivors of the typhoon through its Crisis Action Response Team, the church’s humanitarian arm.
To date, the church has distributed more than 25,000 relief packs to Northern Cebu, Tacloban and Ormoc and is now on the second phase of their humanitarian response—building shelters for the survivors.
Pastor Sabayle said that the concert for a cause is a way for people to see that there is always a ray of light even in the darkest nights.
“In the midst of all these calamities, the name of Jesus still shines as hope,” Sabayle said. /Correspondent Victor Anthony V. Silva
