Tutor captures 10k crown

VETERAN runner Cristy Tutor topped the 10-kilometer category of yesterday’s Ignatian Hero Run at the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) campus in Canduman, Mandaue City.

Tutor breasted the finish line in 46 minutes and seven seconds to outran Sandra Sollano by a hairline. Sollano was just one second behind Tutor (46:08) to finish second while Malou Shimizu clocked 51:32 for third place in this running event organized by the silver Jubilarian Batch 1988 of SHS-AdC.

Jiboy Magbulogtong lorded the men’s 10k race with a time of 36:37. He was trailed by veteran marathoner Desiderio Engbino (37:13) while Joe Vacan (37:48) rounded off the top three runners.

Jolland Olmilla and Nice Serelo ruled the 5k run with a time of 17:59 and 28:46, respectively. Around a thousand runners answered the starting gun yesterday. The running event was held in cooperation with the SHS-AdC Alumni Association and the school’s parents-teachers association for the benefit of the children survivors of Supertyphoon “Yolanda.” /CORRESPONDENT DALE G.
