For three years, she suffered in silence and kept bottled inside her the pain she went through when she suffered a traumatic experience at the age of 18.
Len-Len Musni’s parents said that even they were unaware of her ordeal. It was only when she started acting strangely that they began to suspect that she was hiding something from them. According to Emelda, Len-Len’s mother, her 21-year-old daughter has become prone to mood swings as a result of her bottled-up emotions.
She would be happy one minute and then sullen and silent the next. “Doctors diagnosed her to be suffering from a bipolar disorder for suppressing the most painful emotions she has ever gone through. I wish I could do something to alleviate her suffering,” Emelda said.
A doctor consulted by her parents has prescribed two types of medicine for Len-Len and also required her to undergo a series of psychiatric tests. For her medication and psychiatric exams, the family spends P10,000 a month, which they cannot afford.
