More problems for skidding Batang Pier today

Games today:

Araneta Coliseum

5:45 p.m.- Meralco vs. GlobalPort

8:00 p.m.- Rain or Shine vs. San Mig

IF THEY are to arrest their skid, the GlobalPort Batang Pier will have to find ways to stop a very familiar face.

The Batang Pier face former main man Gary David as they tangle with the Meralco Bolts in today’s 39th PBA Philippine Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.

GlobalPort was one of the busiest teams during the off-season and sending David to the Bolts was one of the bold moves they made.

David has been steady so far for the Bolts, who have won their last two games after tasting back-to-back losses to start the tournament.

Meralco was impressive in its last outing, where it pulled off a 100-87 win over the erstwhile unbeaten Barangay Ginebra Kings.

The Bolts are currently tied with the Barako Bull Energy Colas for the fifth and sixth spots with similar 2-2 (win-loss) records.

Following David’s departure, GlobalPort found another prolific scorer in rookie guard Terrence Romeo, who is currently the league’s leading scorer, averaging 24.7 points a game.

GlobalPort, however, is struggling to pile up wins as it dropped its last two games to drop to the bottom of the standings with a 1-3 slate.

Also sporting a 1-3 record are the San Mig Coffee Mixers, who lock horns with the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters in the main game./EDITORIAL ASSISTANT CALVIN D. CORDOVA
