PDEA agents seize P2M shabu, arrest 2 in Iloilo buy-bust

ILOILO CITY, Philippines — The operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) seized P2 million worth of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or “shabu” in a buy-bust operation in Oton town in Iloilo Wednesday evening.

The PDEA operatives assisted by members of the Oton police force recovered 235.6 grams of suspected shabu in the operation conducted at a seafood restaurant in Barangay Botong in Oton, about 7 kilometers from Iloilo City, according to Senior Insp. Jigger Gimeno, Oton police chief.

Gimeno said the suspected illegal drugs had a street value of P2,002,600.

The operatives arrested Orestes Estrebor, 37, and Christian Morin, 18 at about 8:30 p.m. after a PDEA agent posing as a buyer purchased shabu from the two suspects. The two are now facing charges of violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.

The suspected shabu was packed in large plastic containers and satchets, said Gimeno.
