Thieves take P200k from Caloocan store

Thieves broke into a grocery store in Caloocan City on Sunday and stole nearly P200,000 worth of goods and cash.

The police said they were still looking for clues that would lead to the suspects who forced their way into the Mark Joy Store grocery on Moises Street, Barangay 150, Bagong Barrio.

Police reports showed that the thieves destroyed the lock of a door leading to the quarters of three stay-in grocery helpers around 2 a.m. on Sunday. They pointed a gun at the three workers, tied them up using packaging tape and ransacked the store. They then made off with about P150,000 worth of groceries and P30,000 in cash.

The grocery was equipped with a security camera but the thieves also took the hard drive of the recorder before they escaped.—Nathaniel R. Melican
