Quezon police raid yields P400,000 worth of shabu

LUCENA CITY, Quezon–Quezon policemen raided the hideout of an alleged drug pusher in Candelaria, Quezon early Monday morning and seized suspected shabu or metamphetamine hydrochloride estimated to be worth P400,000, police said.

Senior Supt. Ronaldo Genaro Ylagan, Quezon police chief, said the Quezon Provincial Public Safety Company led by Supt. Ranser Evasco swooped down on the house of Virgilio Cueto in Barangay Malabanban Sur at 4 a.m. and found 27 heat-sealed sachets of the illegal drug.

Ylagan said the shabu weighed 80 grams and had an estimated market value of P400,000. The raiding team also seized one digital weighing scale and three bullets for a .45-cal. pistol.

Cueto, 64, was brought to the operating police unit’s headquarters for further investigation.

Ylagan said Cueto faces charges of violation of RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act Of 2002) and RA 8294 (Illegal Possession of Firearms).

The raid was authorized by a search warrant issued by Judge Eloida R. De Leon-Diaz of Regional Trial Court-Branch 58 in Lucena.
