/ 10:51 PM November 12, 2013

A Barangay tanod (village watchman) was shot dead as he was having dinner at an eatery with a newly elected barangay official Monday night in Roxas District, Quezon City. Rodelio Panti, 48, died of a gunshot wound in the head following the attack at AXL Kitchennette on Dahlia Street. SPO1 Cristituto Zaldarriaga of the Quezon City Police District said the victim was then having dinner with barangay councilor Pedro Salazar Jr. Around 9:20 p.m., witnesses said, two men on a motorcycle stopped in front of the eatery. The passenger got off the bike, walked toward Panti and shot the tanod in the back of the head, before rejoining his companion on the bike to flee. Panti was pronounced dead three hours later at Capitol Medical Center. The motive for the killing remained under investigation. Julie M. Aurelio
