Fire damages school in Quezon City
MANILA, Philippines — A fire broke out at a school in Quezon City on Saturday morning, destroying around P5 million in property in just an hour, an official said.
The blaze damaged a five-story building housing the elementary and high school departments of the National College of Business and Arts on Auroral Boulevard in Cubao. No one was reported injured.
Superintendent Samuel Tadeo, Quezon City deputy city fire marshal, said the fire began at 11 a.m. on the fifth floor of the building and engulfed some classrooms and a maintenance room. He said the fire was believed to have started in the maintenance room.
He said an investigation was underway.
Tadeo said firefighters placed the fire under control at 11:44 a.m. and finally extinguished it at 11:52 a.m.
