The game’s outcome was never in doubt for the wards of head coach Raul “Yayoy” Alcoseba as they zoomed off to a 16-7 lead after the first, which quickly ballooned to a 38-18 advantage at halftime.
The victory equalized SWU’s record at the halfway point of the tournament at 3-3 (win-loss).
CIT-U, on the other hand, finished the round without a single win and are at the bottom of the standings with a 0-6 record.
Five players logged in twin digits in scoring for the Cobras led by the 19 of Rene Pacquiao and the 18 of Eleazar Armecin. Joseph Nalos also had 14 while Justin Aboude and Monbert Arong each scored 12.
CIT-U got 21 from Chester Curso but got just 12 from Allen Dimco.
Meanwhile, the first round continues for the high school division today with a quadruple-bill highlighted by a game featuring the reigning champions Cebu Eastern College (CEC) Dragons.
The 3-1 Dragons will be aiming to catch up with the league-leading Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Magis Eagles, which remain undefeated in five games.
CEC will be taking on CIT-U at 4 pm.
Also, the second-running University of the Visayas (UV) Baby Lancers will be looking to add another win to their total when they battle the much-improved Don Bosco Greywolves.
UV stands at 6-1 after suffering their first loss of the season at the hands of the rampaging Eagles.
