Jail guard slain in QC

A jail officer was shot dead by a motorcycle-riding gunman just outside a hospital in Quezon City shortly after midnight Friday.

JO2 Inocencio Velasquez, 44, died on the spot due to a lone gunshot wound in the head. He was just a few meters away from Diliman Doctors Hospital on Commonwealth Avenue, Barangay Old Balara.

Case investigator PO2 Alvin Quisumbing said the victim had just parked his motorcycle under an overpass near the hospital around 12:30 a.m. Friday when two men on another motorcycle stopped beside him.

Witnesses said one of the motorcycle riders shot the victim and then fled with his companion toward the direction of Fairview. Julie M. Aurelio
