Flights to Cebu, Mindanao cancelled due to ‘Yolanda’

MANILA, Philippines—The oncoming supertyphoon grounded on Thursday several flights from Manila to cities in the southeast of the country, information from the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) showed.

Data from the MIAA showed that two flights from Manila to Surigao of the Cebu Pacific (CEB) and PAL Express were cancelled along with their turnarounds.

Two Cebu Pacific flights from Manila to Butuan and back and one from Cebu to Butuan and back were also canceled. CEB flights to Cagayan de Oro—two from Manila and and one Cebu—were also canceled, along with their turnaround flights.

As of Thursday afternoon, no international flights were affected, according to the MIAA.

The Department of Foreign Affairs, meanwhile, has just announced that its Regional Consular Offices (RCOs) — the DFA’s passport application and certification centers- in parts of Southern Luzon and the Visayas will suspend operations on Nov. 8 and 9 due to the typhoon.

Affected RCOs include centers in the cities of Tacloban, Legazpi, Cebu, Bacolod, Iloilo, Lucena and Lipa.

RCO operations will resume on Monday, according to the DFA.
