Cebu City Olympics goes full blast despite threat of supertyphoon

DESPITE the threat of supertyphoon “Yolanda,” action in the 21 sporting events of the 23rd Cebu City Olympics will go full blast today in different venues around the city.

Three events have already started last Tuesday including swimming, volleyball and football while those opening today are archery, arnis, baseball, basketball, karatedo, wrestling, tennis, sipa, sepak takraw, softball, table tennis, billiards, futsal, athletics, badminton, boxing, chess, folkdance, gymnastics, scrabble and wushu.

Dancesports will start tomorrow while those slated to commence on Nov. 9 are softball and taekwondo.

The University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters snared the secondary division overall title last year, while the University of San Carlos (USC) reigned supreme in the elementary level.

UC collected 252.2 points last year followed by Abellana National School (ANS) at second with 235 points and USC with 220.5 points at third.
