MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Wednesday conducted a dry run of the security convoy that will take detained businesswoman Janet Lim-Napoles to the Senate on Thursday.
At around 9 a.m., a convoy composed of four motorcycle-riding policemen, an ambulance and five PNP patrol vehicles left Fort Sto. Domingo in Santa Rosa City, Laguna, where Napoles had been detained in connection with the alleged illegal detention of principal whistleblower Benhur Luy.
Senior Superintendent Reuben Theodore Sindac, PNP spokesperson, said the Special Action Force (SAF) held the rehearsal to check its security preparations for Napoles’ much-anticipated appearance at the Senate inquiry into the P10-billion pork barrel scam on Thursday.
“The dry run is intended to see all the possible scenarios in connection with Napoles’ travel to the Senate,” Sindac told the Philippine Daily Inquirer
“It will help the SAF to check if they need any necessary adjustment to their security plan,” he added.
