29th Faigao writers workshop held

THE 29th Cornelio Faigao Memorial Annual Writers Workshop organized by the USC Cebuano Studies Center was held at Hale Manna Beach Resort, Moalboal, Cebu last Oct. 25-27.
This year’s workshop panelists were Dr. Ralph Semino Galan, Dr. Victorio Sugbo, Harold Mercurio and Charmaine Carreon.
The fellows from Cebu were Vitalino Aton Jr., Trizer Dale Mansueto, Lorenzo  Niñal, Liean Jane Rama, Angie Utadora, Dante Cuales Jr., Jesulito Kuan, Adonis Enricuso, Shanon Rañin and Julius Cesar Cudera.
Coming from Tacloban were Kenneth Alvin Cinco and Carmie Flor Ortego. Fellows from Dumaguete and Iloilo were Deil Jossaine Galenzoga and Norman Darap, respectively.
Dr. Hope Sabanpan-Yu, workshop coordinator, was assisted by  Charles Dominic Sanchez, deputy workshop coordinator, and the secretariat Raphael Dean Polinar and Ma. Erlinda Braga.
Next year will mark the 30th year of the workshop which will feature a drama and performance playwright’s unit with New York-based playwright, Linda Faigao-Hall, back to back with the creative writing workshop in June 2014.
The playwriting workshop will  run for three days and will have not more than 5 playwrights with the objective of completing five fully realized dramatic performances of published monologues and original short plays.
