Falcons soar over Red Warriors
THE ADAMSON Soaring Falcons moved closer towards the other twice-to-beat advantage in the Final Four as they blew past the University of the East Red Warriors, 76-57, in the 74th UAAP basketball tournament yesterday at the Araneta Coliseum.
Adamson though had to lean on an explosive second half in order to get rid of the pesky Red Warriors, who put up a gallant stand in the first two periods and were only down by one, 27-28, at halftime. However, they were not able to keep the Falcons down for long in the third canto as an 8-0 run late in that stretch enabled them to grab a 51-40 lead heading to the fourth frame.
The rout was on from thereonend as Eric Camson and Alex Nulyes took turns burning the hoop en route to their ninth win in 12 games. They now just need two more wins to claim the second twice-to-beat advantage in the semifinals.
Camson had 20 points, 15 rebounds, two assists and two blocks while Alex Nuyles added 17 points, six rebounds, five assists and two steals. Point guard Lester Alvarez also had 10 markers, three assists and three steals.
