BIT International College anniversary celebration kicks off

THE BIT International College (formerly Bohol Institute of Technology) will commemorate her 30th pearl anniversary from Sept. 2 to 11 under the theme “3 decades, 1 mission.”

A Holy Mass at 4 p.m. at the quadrangle of BIT main campus will mark the start of the grand event.

A short program featuring the launching of “beaver” as the official BIT mascot and the opening of the photo exhibit will follow.

The evening activity will feature the grand finals of the “Clash of Talents” contest.

The second day, Sept. 3, will highlight a seminar spearheaded by the Graduate School, a volleyball and basketball exhibition.

On Sept. 4, the school’s entire workforce will join a recollection by Rev. Fr. Lito Geangan, Immaculate Heart of Mary Seminary rector, followed by an outreach activity in barangay Poblacion 2, Tagbilaran City.

The fourth day, Sept. 5, is the day for the Reserved Officers Training Corps cadets. The 450-strong BIT ROTC unit will have their ceremonial parade, presentation of sponsors, honouring and ball. The evening will showcase the beautiful ladies and handsome gentlemen of BIT as they vie for the Mr. & Ms. Pearl of BIT.

September 6 is a grand day as the institution celebrates Founders’ Day, the 49th wedding anniversary of the couple who founded BIT. The school was fuonded by University of Bohol alumnus lawyer Dionisio Balite and his wife Dr. Lilia Balite in 1981. Activities include an opening program of the Intramural Games at the BIT Dao campus, where the athletic parade, search for Miss Intrams 2011 and dance attack contest will be held. A Holy Mass will be held in the afternoon, while competitions on dance sports latin, vocal solo and duet by colleges will take place in the evening.

On Sept. 7, there will be the continuation of the Intramural games, the academic competition by colleges in extemporaneous speaking, spelling and general information. The Employees’ Gala Night will ensue in the evening.

On Sept. 8, the elementary pupils will pay tribute to Mama Mary, as a birthday present to the Blessed Virgin. The night will underscore a dance-musical presentation of the basic education students and some parents of the elementary and secondary students.

On Sept. 9 at 8 a.m., the main thoroughfares of downtown Tagbilaran will be filled with a parade of beauties of BIT. After the parade, a whole-day bingo extravaganza will proceed. The evening will be capped by a dance-musical presentation by the present and former members of the Troubadours and Maharlika dancers, the school’s official singing and dancing ambassadors. A victory fellowship and disco will follow after the show.

The last two days, Sept. 10 and 11, will include a grand alumni reunion, a basketball exhibition game between former and current BIT varsity players, election and oath-taking of officers of the school’s alumni association, tree planting and a Holy Mass.
