MANILA, Philippines—The Department of Justice is looking at the possibility of tapping the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to investigate the circumstances behind the grenade attack on the house of a prosecutor in Davao.

Prosecutor General Claro Arellano said the Philippine National Police is already doing its own investigation.

“We are still waiting for the report of our Regional Prosecutor. We might tap the NBI to investigate,” Arellano said Tuesday.

The grenade explosion occurred inside the residential compound of Provincial Prosecutor Artemio Tajon on Estrada 1st Street around 1 a.m. Monday.

Initial reports said that a black pickup truck was seen speeding away from Tajon’s house shortly after the blast.

The prosecutor and his family were unscathed but the explosion damaged a portion of Tajon’s house.
